From Morning Prayer:

St. Rose of Lima

Early in the morning, laborers agreed to work all day for a denarius.

About the third hour he saw others standing idle, and he said, ‘You go into the vineyard too.’

About the sixth hour and the ninth hour, and the eleventh hour he did the same.

And when evening came, he called the laborers to pay them, beginning with the last, up to the first.

And when those hired the eleventh hour came, they received a denarius. The same for those from the ninth and sixth hour.

Now when the first came, they thought they would receive more; but they received a denarius. And on receiving it they grumbled at the householder, saying, ‘These last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.’

But he replied to them, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong; did you not agree with me for a denarius? Take what belongs to you, and go;

Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me?

Or do you begrudge my generosity?’

(loosely from the Gospel of Matthew)

I pray that this text finds you in willing compliance.

I pray that we may all have had a day of knowing we will be treated as God's mercy dictates.

Please pray for all those listed in all the parts of the litany from Monday (Part 1)(Part 2)(Part 3)(Part 4).
